Welcome to a the MAC Technology Wiki!

Lauren Coakley - project coordinator

I am the technology training coordinator for Mount Aloysius College (MAC), a small private college located in Cresson, Pennsylvania. MAC is technology hungry – we are wireless on campus, in 2009 completed a major upgrade to our integrated database system; we push the limits of our bandwidth constantly. I am located in IT Services and our department interfaces with students, faculty and staff every day. I train faculty and staff on software used by the college. I manage our primary course management system, Blackboard. My position has required me to teach Microsoft Office software to students.
My classroom is mobile; it’s anywhere I am. I am accessible by phone, cell phone, email and in person, often while eating lunch. I have a training room that has seven computers and a projector but if a larger room is needed – there are many options. Frequently, I meet faculty and staff in their office and at their computers. There is one of me and 64 full time faculty members, an ever-growing number of adjuncts and approximately 2000 students on and off campus. I am part of a great team in our IT Services department and thankful to be part of a group that works well together.
Today my focus is on Blackboard, because we launched Blackboard Learn 9 on campus. We moved our course management system from Blackboard Basic 6.3 to Blackboard Learn 9, truly one giant leap for everyone who uses Blackboard at MAC.
